How the site describes itself:

ALIEN Art Centre

ALIEN Art Centre was renovated from the Kin-Ma Military Hostel that was originally served for the national army heading to the Kinmen and the Matsu Front Line during the Cold War period. In 2016, ALIEN Art took on a new mission, preserved this uniquely meaningful history and reopened the site as a contemporary art museum. Its curatorial vision pays tribute to the building’s origins by reflecting the spirit of the times, grounded in the belief that art is an experience shaped by 'visual creation', 'sense of place', and 'architectural space'.
