Tomas van Houtryve Visual Artist

Tomas van Houtryve is a visual artist based in Paris, working mainly with photography and video. He is the author of the monographs '35 Views of Notre Dame de Paris,' 'Lines and Lineage,' and 'Behind the Curtains of 21st Century Communism.' Van Houtryve is a Fellow with Columbia University's Institute of Ideas and Imagination and a 2024 National Geographic Explorer. His honors include the ICP Infinity Award, World Press Photo Award, the Bayeux Prize for War Correspondents, and a CatchLight / Pulitzer Center Fellowship. He is a Contributing Artist for Harper's Magazine and an educator with the VII Foundation.
