Variable Skipping for Autoregressive Range Density Estimation (ICML 2020)

We introduce range density estimation, a new downstream task for deep autoregressive models. This task is inspired by an ML-for-systems application, database query optimization. We propose a simple data augmentation technique, termed variable skipping, to significantly speed up approximate inference.
