Painperdu

Pain Perdu (named for the famous lost bread aka French toast of New Orleans Creole cuisine) is written by Gisele Perez, a New Orleans expatriate- and professional chef- who has lived in Los Angeles since her childhood. She considers New Orleans to be not only her hometown, but her ancestral homeland. This blog began, in its first incarnation, after the devastation rendered to her homeland after Hurricane Katrina. It continues to chronicle her journey from New Orleans to Los Angeles back to New Orleans and points along the way, with family stories and a bit of Louisiana culture and history, all peppered with favorite recipes.
