The Vernian Era

Michael and Karen's home page, presenting some of the things that interest us. The theme centers on changes in literature, technology, science, and leisure that took place during the nineteenth century, alos called the Vitorian age. This site uses Jule's Verne as a jumping off point, becasue his writings are associated dirrectly or indirectly with these changes. In particular this site examines Verne's Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, the unique marine technology of the Winan's cigar ships, and the emerging submarine technology as typified by the Confederate Hunley.
